Why Use Distribution Servers?

Issue: Your organization has offices in many different locations across the country or around the world. How can you speed up the time it takes to access files that are located on the Security Controls console?

Solution: Use one or more distribution servers. A distribution server is a place that you use to store vendor patch files, custom patch files, engine components and data files. Its purpose is to provide each of the organization’s remote sites a local repository for the files used during the patch management processes. By providing local copies of these files, you greatly reduce your network traffic as well as the time it takes to access the files.

This use case highlights the planning and implementation tasks involved with rolling out distribution servers.
